Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering

Overview

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the oldest and the largest departments in Engineering & Technology. In past years, Civil Engineers focused on design and construction of new facilities, such as buildings, bridges and highways, water treatment and environmental facilities, foundations and tunnels. Today's Civil Engineer not only has to design new facilities but must also analyze the effects of deterioration on infrastructure elements. Considering a system interdependency and evaluation of life-cycle impacts on environmental and economic sustainability within the context of society, Civil Engineers must be equipped with in-depth knowledge of traditional, fundamental principles and new technologies in order to address the complex, interdisciplinary problems faced within society.

VISION

• To create competent professionals who are trained in design and development of civil Engineering systems and contribute towards research and development activities.

• To upgrade the department as a center of excellence in the field of Civil Engineering and allied engineering disciplines.

MISSION

  • • To provide value based education to students, strong in scientific, Engineering, humanistic and social bases.
  • • To attain a leadership role in their profession and use their knowledge and skill for the enhancement for long-term infrastructure, eco –friendly technologies and sustainable development.
